I worked for the Museum of Science and Industry for 6 years in the Exhibit Design department. I started off as an intern in college and started a full time position after I graduated. I went from a production assistant who designed and produced signage to a designer getting to update exhibits throughout the museum. Larger projects I got to work on for the museum include the Giant Dome Theater, Fly or Ride flight simulators and Christmas Around the World.
Snoozeum
Snoozeum is an event where people can spend the night at the Museum! This redesign consisted of the logo along with maps. The maps are given to people that attend the event to inform them about the scheduled events. The logo was also placed on patches and buttons that are available for purchase in the store the night of events.
The goal of the redesign was to clean up the logo and give it a science feel without having to spell it out. I played with manipulating multiple letters so they would represent different aspects of science and adding stars to simulate the night experience.
Process work
Extreme Ice
I helped with the production of the exhibit, Extreme Ice. I laid out all of the content panels, gallery tags and interactive elements within the touch screen panels.
Science Hero’s Saves the Day
Science Hero Saves the Day is a 20 minute show that is put on in the Science Theater. The show teaches kids about liquid nitrogen and the scientific process in a fun and exciting way.
Kylie Kosulic and Dillon Dreiling created the show and the content and I helped their vision come to life. I designed and produced all of the props to go with the show.

Sensory Map
The Museum of Science and Industry can be a loud, exciting and sometimes overwhelming experience. We have taken our everyday museum map and added sensory information for those who would like more information about the museum.
We have added four new icons: Quiet Space, Loud Space, Flashing Lights and Low Light. This gives guest a better idea of what they may encounter on their visit.
One side contains our most popular exhibits and gives specific sensory information while the other side contains our map with generalized information.
Reference Materials
There is a lot of small details that go into making sure something is accessible. I have created reference posters/cards to help my team stay as accessible as possible. The Accessibility Quick Reference Cards fit in the back of the MSI ID holders for easy access for all employees.
Garage Redesign
The museum has it’s own parking garage attached to the building. There is an office at the entrance where people can sit and wait if they are having car trouble or ask questions. We wanted to bring some life to this space instead of having just the white walls so I got the change to design what it would look like.
I took inspiration of all things with wheels that we have in the museum and pulled photos from our archives to fill the walls. Using our brand green to also brighten up the space.
I also redesigned our pay stations. Color coding them for each level and laying out instructional panels to help people with how the machines work.
